Marcel Duchamp-Artist

Marcel Duchamp is known to be the first Conceptual Artist. His piece "Fountain" was the birth of conceptual art. His work is... controversial to say the least. The "Fountain" is a already made urinal. Marcel Duchamp took this urinal, laid it on its side, signed it, and called it art.
Most people were angry that he called this piece art, but no matter their attitude toward the piece, people noticed and started talking about this new idea in art. And with that, conceptual art was born.
Marcel Duchamp was born in Northern France. He attended a special school for seven years that focused on "intellectual development." Soon after, he decided to be an artist.
